Sergeant Raoul Ming is presented with a Retirement Plaque
by Commissioner of Police, Darrin Simons

We just received the announcement below about the retirement of Sergeant  Raoul Ming who our “younger” ExPo members may have served with because Raoul first joined the BPS as a young Cadet in 1987. Raoul attended Basic Training Course No. 42 which was held from June – September 1989, and he served for some 38 years in total.

The following release was published on the BPS website:-

“Commissioner of Police Darrin Simons and his Senior Leadership Team recognised the retirement of Sergeant Raoul Ming at a celebratory gathering Monday, 7th April 2025.

Father of two daughters Samaiya and Raya plus son Jari, his wife MP Renee Ming, brother Constable Jason Ming and son, as well as several colleagues, were in attendance.

Family is important to Sergeant Ming, who started his career as a Police Cadet in 1987 and has had an interesting 38 years of policing, working in various departments.

Described as a character, but very serious about his work as a policeman’s policeman, he was lauded for over 20 years of supporting others in his role with the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team, receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) Occupational Health Unit during last Monday’s get-together.

A mentor to numerous colleagues, and with a wicked sense of humour and caring nature, Sergeant Ming is also a former Chairman of the Bermuda Police Association.

In addition to his policing duties, he takes time to make a positive impact in our community by helping wherever he can, particularly in the east end.

Remarking on his lengthy police career, Commissioner Simons noted that Sergeant Ming’s contributions to the BPS and the community came from his heart.

Thank you for your service Sergeant Ming! We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.  💙

EDITORS NOTE – We add our own best wishes to Raoul on his retirement and we hope to see him at our ExPo functions as a “fully qualifed” member of ExPo.
